I am a qualified Art Psychotherapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). I currently manage the Art Therapy provision at an east London hospital and have a private practice in London W1.
I came to art therapy after working as a support worker and occupational therapy assistant in the NHS and private supported housing. Over the last ten years I have worked with clients experiencing psychosis, addictions recovery, acute anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), autism, asperger’s syndrome, eating disorders, physical disability and social isolation in group, open studio and one to one settings. I have also worked with those with forensic histories and have recently run Art Psychotherapy workshops incorporating meditation techniques and music.
I am primarily interested in the regenerative qualities inherent in leading a creative life and believe that we all have the capacity to shed light on unconscious processes through image making. I approach my work in a way that empathically engages the specificity of the individual client in order to provide a safe and engaging environment conducive to their autonomy and growth.
I graduated in BA Fine Art (specialising in painting) at Cardiff University with 1st Class Honours before training on the MA Art Psychotherapy programme at Goldsmiths University, graduating with distinction.
