Nelly Curtis BA, MA
Art Psychotherapist. HCPC registered
Hi, my name is Nelly, I work with children and young people in school settings, charities, mental health trusts and privately. I help my clients overcome adversities in order to live healthy and happier lives. Together we can develop conflict resolutions, build resilience and self-esteem. There are many reasons that bring clients to art therapy such as experiences that have caused pain or trauma, mental and physical health difficulties and problems in relationships.
In the therapeutic relationship one can experience personal growth, positive change and develop a stronger sense of self. The art making process in art therapy is a creative and powerful tool to help express, expose and make sense of difficult or unconscious aspects of our selves. This can then be safely explored within the therapeutic relationship.
I am trained in psychodynamic and Jungian analytical psychology. I work in a child-led style by working at my clients own pace based on a strong therapeutic alliance. I like to work systemically by thinking about the family as a whole and develop relationships with parents, carers, teachers and other professionals involved in the child or young person’s life.
I believe deeply in the healing opportunities of experiencing art therapy whether you’re a child, adult or senior. I have experienced how art therapy breaks through social barriers and enhances wellbeing and confidence.
I can offer assessments and evaluations, short and long term, 1-1 and group therapy.
