Personal Statement
Claudette Chin-Jones, MBACP, BAAT, BAATN , registered Art Therapist with HCPC.
Integrative, Intercultural Arts Psychotherapist and Artist
I believe that everyone has a story to tell and a right to be heard. I also passionately believe that the arts have the capacity to soothe, nourish and heal.
As an Integrative and Intercultural Arts Psychotherapist, I can provide a safe and containing space for you to tell your unique story and explore the ways in which it may be affecting you. Using the creative arts provides a safe vehicle within which to explore the sometimes difficult or traumatic elements that may be a part of your narrative. No form of art training is necessary or expected, it is the expression that is key to the process. The flexibility of this approach means we can co-create a path to help you navigate a way through any turmoil or discomfort issuing from your narrative, with the aim of uncovering a more profound understanding of self.
My practice is underpinned by Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Intercultural approaches which are integrated with the use of the creative arts. I am able to meet you where you are in a non-judgemental, compassionate and empathic way. Working with this integration of approaches, means the therapy is tailor-made to you and your needs.
I have a Master’s degree in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy with Adults, a Certificate in Counselling Skills, and a degree in Fine Art (Mixed Media).
I have several years’ experience working with individual adults with complex mental health issues in various settings including the NHS and other charitable organisations.
I facilitate a range of platforms including face to face, online (Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams), or over the phone, whilst continuing to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
